Respite - Due to changes in health, some seniors are unable to live fully independently, but are able to remain at home with the support of a caregiver, such as a spouse, adult child, sibling or close friend. Providing continuous care can be stressful for caregivers. Periodic help from a respite worker can provide caregivers short, rejuvenating periods of time away from their responsibilities of caring for a dependent senior, which helps preserve the caregiving relationship.

Before services begin, an in-home assessment is done to identify the caregiving needs of the household. Periodic reassessments are performed to ensure the level of care given remains consistent with changing needs.
