Many Department on Aging programs rely heavily upon the regular assistance of a group of dedicated volunteers.
Volunteers can serve as little as an hour or two a month, once a week, or more frequently. Volunteering is a great way to keep active while helping others in the process. Consider some of the opportunities listed below:
Volunteer Opportunities
MMAP ( Medicare and Medicaid Assistance Program) Counselors - Under the direction of the MMAP coordinator, counsel people who have Medicare and Medicaid concerns; provide information on how to select supplemental insurance policies.
Nutrition Site and Senior Center Volunteers - Help serve meals, welcome new participants and assist with special programs and events.
Enrichment Class Instructors - Teach a class involving a craft or skill or share from your knowledge or experience.
Senior Center Greeters - Welcome guests as they arrive in the senior center; alert staff when a visitor arrives.
Senior Center Craft Corner - Assist customers shopping in our craft sale area.
