success.
OUTDOOR ADVENTURE
PROGRAM:
We have pioneered the way in outdoor adventure learning
for juvenile detention centers. For the past 20 years the
residents of the youth center have been involved in an intensive
week long backpacking trip though the Great Smoky Mountains
National Park. Residents learn outdoor survival techniques,
problem solving, and group cooperation in this most unusual
setting.
OUT OF COUNTY SERVICE:
The JCYC has opened its doors to out of county placement.
While at the youth center, out of county residents
receive the same benefits that "in-county" youth receive.
Per diem rates can be accessed by e-mail or by contacting
the Jackson County Youth Center.
EDUCATIONAL SERVICES:
Detention and Residential treatment youths are offered a
complete year-round, in- building, school program operated
by the Intermediate School District. Each youth is
evaluated for individual placement in the school program.
The school program also offers a mainstreaming program
designed to place youths in their home schools before and
after release from the youth center.
