Adoption
All dogs and cats adopted from the Animal Shelter will have a current rabies shot, distemper, distemper/parvo shot and will be wormed if the animal is old enough.

Adoption Costs
Dogs, 3 months or younger - $46 to $50 (includes adoption price, distemper/parvo shot, worm medicine, and a $25.00 sterilization deposit)
Dogs, 4 months or older - $78 to $ 80 (includes adoption price, distemper/parvo shot, rabies vaccination, worm medicine, $20.00 license, and a $25.00 sterilization deposit)
Cats, 3 months or younger - $41 to $45 (includes adoption price, distemper shot, worm medicine, and a $25.00 sterilization deposit)
Cats, 4 months or older - $47 to $50 (includes adoption price, distemper and rabies shot, worm medicine, and a $25.00 sterilization deposit)

Combination vaccine*: include Chamydia (Pneumonitis) where it is a concern. Feline Leukemia: for kittens at risk of exposure to feline leukemia virus.
12wks or older
Rabies: Given by your local veterinarian (age at vaccination may vary according to local law).
13wks
Combination vaccine*: include Chlmydia (Pneumonitis) where it is a concern. Feline Leukemia: for kittens at risk of exposure to feline leukemia virus.
16 & 19wks
Feline Infectious Peritonitis: for kittens at risk of exposure
Adult (boosters)
Combination vaccine*: include Chalmydia (Pneumonitis) where it is a concern. Feline Leukemia: for cats at risk of exposure to feline leukemia virus. Feline Infectious Peritonitis: for cats at risk of exposure. Rabies: Given by your local veterinarian (time interval between vaccinations may vary according to law)

*A combination vaccine includes feline distemper, rhinotracheitis, and calicivrus. Some may also include chlamydia. According to the American Association of Feline Practitioners, cats at low risk of disease exposure may not need to be boostered yearly for most diseases. Consult with your local veterinarian to determine the appropriate vaccination schedule for your cat.

Parvovirus: for puppies at high risk of exposure to parvo, some veterinarians recommend vaccinating at 5 weeks. Check with your veterinarian.
6 & 9wks
Combination vaccine* without leptospirosis. Coronavirus: where coronavirus is a concern.
12wks or older
Rabies: given by your local veterinarian (age at vaccination may vary according to local law). Combination vaccine*: including leptospirosis where it is a concern, or if traveling to an area where it occurs. Coronavirus: where coronavirus is a concern. Lyme where Lyme disease is a concern or if traveling to an area where it occurs.
12 & 15wks
Some puppies may need additional vaccinations against parovirus after 15 weeks of age. Consult with your local veterinarian.
Adult (boosters)
Combination vaccine*: include leptospirosis where it is a concern, or if traveling to an area where it occurs. Coronavirus: where coronavirus is a concern. Lyme: where Lyme disease is a concern or if traveling to an area where it occurs. Rabies: given by your local veterinarian (time interval between vaccinations may vary according to local law).
* A combination vaccine includes adenovirus cough and hepatitis (the inclusion of either adenovirus-1 or adenovirus-2 in a vaccine will protect against both diseases), distemper, parainfluenza, and parvovirus. Some may also include coronavirus. Consult with your local veterinarian to determine the appropriate vaccination schedule for your dog.

Sale of Dog Licenses
All dogs in Jackson County must have a current rabies vaccination and a license by 4 months of age.

Fee Schedule
December 1 to February 28 - $20.00 (sexed), $10.00 (unsexed)
March 1 to November 30 - $30.00 (sexed)

1) Senior citizens 62 or older with proof of age will get the license for half price.
2) You must have your rabies certificate to purchase a license.
3) You must have your sterilization proof to purchase an animal.
4) It is your responsibility to have all information that will be requested.
