DETENTION:
 The Jackson County Youth Center supports a 24 bed detention unit which houses juvenile offenders for crimes such, as armed robbery, murder, arson and controlled substances violations as well as many other felony offenses. The unit utilizes a  token economy system and the principles of behavior modification in promoting positive behavior. Youth are provide with a monitored, structured enviroment.  This unit is also open to out of county youth for placement from other jurisdictions.  The average length of stay is about 15 days with an average daily population of 21.

DETENTION SERVICES:

  •Residents are seen by our on-staff Nurse at regularly scheduled times.  Upon admittance 

   residents are given a physical and standard immunizations, if required.  

  •Access to community medical and dental services as required

  •Counseling services are provided in

    house.  Under certain circumstances

   we have access to outside counseling

   agencies ie. Lifeways, Bridgeway,

   Hospice, etc...

  •The Intermediate School District

   provides general education, youth go to

   school year round

  •The Jackson Public School District

   provides a school social worker during

   the normal school year

  •Non-denominational Bible Study is available for those residents that are interested in their

   spiritual growth
