Clifford Herl, (REP) was born in Jackson, MI and has lived in Jackson County all of his adult life. He has resided in Rives Township since 1951. Clifford graduated from Vandercook Lake High School and DeVry Institute of Technology with a degree in electronics. He attended many company classes and additional courses at Jackson Community College.

Clifford retired from Unisys Corporation, a computer company, in 1991, where he was a Field Service Manager for 32 years. He was involved with farming for about 45 years. He helped in writing the “150 Years of the Jackson County Fair” book in 2003.

Clifford likes to read about history and he aided in writing, "The Cornerstone Township,” a history book about Rives Township. His wife, Marian J. and Clifford have four children and fifteen grandchildren.

Clifford was a Commissioner on the Jackson County Board of Commissioners from 1993 to 1998.  He served on several committees and worked on technological projects during that time.  He was reelected to the County Board in 2000, and serves/or has served on the Fair Board, Airport Board, Board of Public Works, Region II Planning Commission, Region 2 JACTS Policy Committee, I-94 Study Committee, County Agencies, and Personal and Finance Committee.  Clifford was the Vice-Chairman of the County Board of Commissioners, 2004-2007.

Clifford Herl, as a County Commissioner, will serve the people of District 1 and the entire County of Jackson, and be available and willing to help the citizens whenever possible. He will strive to provide the people of Jackson County good service, no matter who they are, and listen to their concerns.
