Business Registrations protect the name of the business in Jackson County only. The certificate expires after five (5) years. If a business registration is not renewed, the name can be given out to someone else. The Clerks Office sends out a renewal reminder card a few weeks before the expiration date.
All persons listed on the business registration form need to have their signatures notarized. In order for one of the clerks to notarize a signature, a drivers license or other piece of picture identification with a signature such as a State I.D. or passport is needed.
The fee to file, renew, amend or dissolve a business registration is $10.00.
Three certified copies of the Business Registration Certificate are provided to said business owner while two certified copies of the renewal, amended or dissolution forms are provided.
Business Registration Certificates are filed with the County Clerks Office in the County in which the business is located.
