NEW PHOTO ID REQUIREMENT
Voters are reminded that they will be asked to present a Michigan driver’s license or Michigan personal identification card at the polls.

Voters who do not have a photo ID on them may still vote after signing an affidavit.

Voters who don’t have a Michigan driver’s license or identification card can show the following forms of photo ID, as long as the documents are current:
• Driver’s license or personal ID card issued by another state.
• U. S. Passport
• Military identification card with photo
• Student identification with photo from high school or accredited institution of higher education, such as college or university
• Tribal identification card with photo.

The ID must include the voter’s name and photo. It does not need to include an address.

SCHOOL BOARD CANDIDATE FILING REQUIREMENTS

May 5, 2009

Candidates seeking a school board office on the May 5, 2009 election ballot must file one of the following with the Jackson County Clerk’s office no later than
4:00 p.m. on February 10, 2009:

OR

Upon the filing official’s determination that the petition(s) is sufficient or the non refundable fee is paid, the candidate’s name is placed on the ballot.  Candidates have until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 13, 2009 to withdraw their name from the ballot through written statement submitted to the Jackson County Clerk’s office.

Campaign Finance Requirements

School board candidates are required to file a Statement of Organization with the Jackson County Clerk’s office within 20 days of becoming a candidate if the school district has a pupil membership count greater than 2,400 OR receives or spends $1,000 or more for the election.
