WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU WHEN APPLYING:
1. Picture identification IS required & must be presented at the time you apply showing your correct address. Both parties do not have to apply, but identification is required for the absent party if not a Jackson County resident.
2. SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS ARE NEEDED FOR BOTH PERSONS APPLYING FOR LICENSE
3. Birth Certificates are NOT required, but contain all of the pertinent information you will need to provide for both parties, such as:
a. Birth dates & birth places
b. Parents full names, including mothers maiden name & the state
where each parent was born.
IF YOU PLAN TO BE MARRIED IN MICHIGAN:
You must obtain your license in the County in which you reside. If one or both of you have a Jackson County address, you may apply at the Jackson County Clerks Office for your license. The fee is $20 and required at the time you apply. You can use it to be married anywhere in Michigan.
Applicants coming from out-of-state must apply for their license in the county in Michigan where the marriage is to take place. The fee for this in Jackson County is $30 payable at the time you apply. WAITING PERIOD:
