It's the Jackson County Clerk's Office policy to provide the veteran with three certified copies at the time that they place them on file with our office. Any additional certified copies needed after that time will be $2.00 each.

After discharge from the military, it is the responsibility of the veteran to place their military discharge (Form DD-214) on file with the County Clerk’s Office in the county in which they reside. (The discharge may be placed on file in as many counties as the veteran desires.)

Once on file, it is considered a private record. The veteran may request a copy, but a picture I.D. must be produced. If the veteran is unable to personally appear, the veteran may write a letter of permission and provide a photocopy of his/her photo I.D. for someone else to pick up.

VETERAN AFFAIRS

Veteran Affairs is a department that provides help to veterans and their families on acquiring things such as acquisition of headstones, federal and state burial benefits, compensation and pension for disabled veterans and their families, placement in state nursing homes, educational benefits and a variety of other services.
