Jackson County Clerks Office - Concealed Pistol License

Concealed Pistol License fee - $105.00

(This includes the cost for fingerprinting)

 

An application can be picked up at the County Clerk's Office, the Office of the Sheriff, or  the Michigan State Police Post.  

 

When applying for a CPL, you must appear in person along with the following items:

 

              Completed Application

              

               Valid ID

 

                $105 Processing Fee (cash, check, and credit accepted)

 

                Passport quality photo - Photos can be taken at the Clerk's Office for                    

                an additional $10 fee

 

If this is an application for a new CPL, you will also need the original Pistol Safety Training Certificate.

 

After submitting your application, you will need to be fingerprinted - see Information on Fingerprinting below.  If you are applying for a renewal and were fingerprinted on or after January 1, 2006, you will not need to be fingerprinted again.

 

Once the fingerprint response is received from the State, a local background check is completed, and your application is reviewed by the Gun Board.  You will receive notice in the mail to either appear before the Board, or to pick up your CPL from our office.  Please allow 2 to 3 months for this process.

 

A license to carry a concealed pistol is valid until the applicant's date of birth, that falls not less than 4 years or more than 5 years after the license is issued.

Information on Fingerprinting

Fingerprints are taken by appointment only.  To schedule your appointment, please contact Great Northern Sentry Co. by calling (517) 783-2225.  Their office is located at  2901 W. Michigan Ave., Jackson, MI.   

                                      

You will need to take your receipt from the County Clerk’s Office and your Michigan Driver’s License to your appointment.  If this is a renewal, you will also need to have your CPL with you. 

 

Do not get fingerprinted until after you have applied for your CPL at the Clerk's Office.
