WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU WHEN APPLYING FOR A MARRIAGE LICENSE:
1. Picture identification IS required & must be presented at the time you apply showing your correct address. One party needs to be a resident of Jackson County. Both parties do not have to be present to apply, a photo copy of identification is not mandatory but suggested for the absent party .
2. Birth dates, birth places (city and state), current address and social security numbers of each applying party 3. Each parties parents’ full names, including mother’s maiden names and the state where each parent was born.

IF YOU PLAN TO BE MARRIED IN MICHIGAN: You must obtain your license in the County in which you reside. If one or both of you have a Jackson County address, you may apply at the Jackson County Clerk’s Office for your license. The fee is $20 and required at the time you apply. You can use it to be married anywhere in Michigan.
Applicants coming from out-of-state must apply for their license in the county in Michigan where the marriage is to take place. The fee for this in Jackson County is $30 payable at the time you apply.
WAITING PERIOD: Michigan has a three (3) day waiting period. The following is a list of the pick up schedule:

MARRIAGE LICENSE FEE TABLE Michigan Resident - $20.00
Out-of-State (You live out of state but are being married in Jackson Co. MI.) - $30.00
You may request to waive the 3 day waiting period by filing out a waiver form from the clerk's office. If the 3 day waiver is approved an extra $20 waiver fee is added to the license fee (active military personnel are excluded from the waiver fee).
MARRIAGE LICENSES MUST BE USED WITHIN 30 DAYS!
When you pick up your marrige license you will recieve instructions as to how to process your license once you have been married.
