Tuberculosis (TB) Control 
  • A physician care and drug treatment follow-up program for TB cases and contacts. Offered by appointment only.

Maternal Infant Health Program
  • Being pregnant and having a new baby can be stressful. There are many changes that take place. The Maternal Infant Health Program can help pregnant women and infants from birth to 12 months adjust by providing help from a nurse, social worker, and nutritionist. We can work with your health care provider to assist with issues such as:
  • Information and education for pregnancy and childbirth
  • Learning about baby baths, feedings and safe sleeping
  • Understanding your baby’s growth and development
  • Information on healthy eating for moms and babies
  • Support and education on breastfeeding
  • Transportation assistance for medical and health related appointments
  • Parenting information
  • Help to stop smoking
  • Childbirth classes
  • To receive services, pregnant women and infants must be enrolled in Medicaid or MOMS.

Early On Outreach  
  • Early On is an early intervention program which provides educational, health and social services to children with special needs.
  • Any child aged birth to three years with special medical, physical, or developmental needs and their family, regardless of income.
  • Available services include: free evaluation of child's abilities and needs, help finding needed services, speech and language therapy, hearing and vision services, occupational therapy, physical therapy, nursing and health services, famioy training, toy/equipment lending, family support services, play groups, home visits, and many others.

Hearing Services
  • Certified hearing technicians screen preschoolers and children in grades K, 2, 4, and 6 in Jackson County schools for hearing defects. The Jackson County Health Department provides a walk-in Hearing and Vision clinic twice a month (first and third Fridays from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.) throughout the school year for all Jackson County residents.

Vision
  • Certified vision technicians screen preschoolers and children in grades 1, 3, 5, and 7, and in grades 9 and 11 or in Driver's Education Class, in Jackson County schools for vision problems. The Jackson County Health Department provides a walk-in Hearing and Vision clinic twice a month (first and third Fridays from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.) throughout the school year for all Jackson County residents.

SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome)
  • SIDS or SUDS (Sudden Unexpected Death Syndrome)
  • One of the services provided to our community is bereavement support and this service is free of charge.
  • This service is for families who have suffered the loss of an infant to SIDS or SUDS, and the loss of an infant between the age of 1 month and 1 year who has died and the cause is not obvious.
  • This Includes sepsis, positional asphyxia and accidental suffocation.
