JCHD Abstinence Program

“Promoting healthy choices and behaviors among Jackson County youth, aged 12-18, by avoiding risky behaviors, in order to reduce teen rates of pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases (STD’s).

Our Program Offers:

  • Abstinence education for youth, aged 12-18, and their parents
  • The Get REAL (Realistic Experiences and Learning) Summer Program that includes educational opportunities, field trips, guest speakers, food, an overnight retreat and a parent celebration
  • Workshops, speakers, and presentations on abstinence, communication, parent/child connectedness, teen pregnancy, STD’s, etc.
  • Informational materials and resources, curriculum, videos, brochures, etc.
  • Active workgroup on abstinence education and sex education
  • Assistance to local schools around sex education policies and programming

Teen Pregnancy Prevention Initiative (TPPI)

Mission: To reduce the teen pregnancy rate in Jackson County and address contributing factors for Jackson County’s young people

  • The TPPI is a collaborative effort of an advisory committee who recently conducted a strategic planning process to develop a comprehensive plan for Jackson County
  • Works with school districts to implement evidence-based sex education programs for youth and educates the public on teen pregnancy
  • Educates parents and the community on teen pregnancy and the importance of communicating with young people through creative strategies

Early On Outreach
  • Early On is an early intervention program which provides educational, health and social services to children with special needs.
  • Any child aged birth to three years with special medical, physical, or developmental needs and their family, regardless of income.
