PROJECT SAFE NEIGHBORHOODS INITIATIVE The Unites States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Michigan, in partnership with local, state, federal agencies, has established an initiative aimed at reducing gun violence throughout the district. This initiative involves the referral of traditional state firearms cases for federal prosecution, in those cases that meet federal prosecution guideline, and where federal sentencing guidelines would result in a higher sentence that that given in a state court. The Jackson County Prosecutor's Office has been selected to receive funding from the Eastern District of Michigan Project Safe Neighborhoods Initiative.
