Information Guide

The mission of the Jackson County Recovery Court (JRC) is to eliminate drug and alcohol use by the participants in an effort to restore their self worth and productivity.
Recovery from the disease of alcohol and drug dependence is a difficult process that requires commitment, honesty, openness and willingness.

Involvement in Recovery Court is very different for the defendant than being sentenced to a term of probation.  This program is for those individuals who are ready to be actively involved in making life changes, which will sustain abstinence and foster their growth and development in all areas. The Recovery Court Team consists of a Circuit court Judge, Recovery Court Coordinator, Case Manager, Treatment Providers and Probation Officers, as well as representatives of AA.  A member of the Prosecutor’s Office and a Defense Attorney are also part of the Team, which jointly makes decisions in regards to the Court’s response to the participant’s progress.

All Recovery Court participants will be involved in a comprehensive and integrated program of substance abuse disorder treatment and habilitation services, to be supervised by the Recovery Court Judge. The program requires a minimum participation of 12 months, four phases, before program completion/graduation.  A person can also serve more time in these phases, if he or she does not comply with program requirements.

As part of participation in the program a person will be required to attend substance use disorder treatment, which can include detox, residential, intensive out-patient and out-patient therapy. They will also be expected to submit to regular random drug screenings, attend a minimum of five 12- Step meetings per week during the first two phases and three meetings during the third and fourth phases. They will adhere to a curfew and pay a fee to Recovery Court for participation in the program. They will be expected to report to their assigned probation officer as required and attend Recovery Court sessions two times per month in the first two phases, and one time a month during phases three and four.

Thank you for taking the time to read this information guide and we wish you good luck on your recovery journey.
