District 8 - John Polaczyk

  1. Commissioner John Polaczyk represents District 8 (PDF) which is located within the City of Jackson.

    John would like to first thank you for allowing him to serve as your County Commissioner for the 8th District. This district represents approximately half of the city from Cooper Street west.

    For the past 14 years John has worked as a Nurse Manager for Allegiance Health managing the Occupational Health Clinics as well as recently as the Allegiance Hearing Clinic. John's management experience extends over 35 years, including three clinics that John co-owns with 2 physicians. John attended both Schoolcraft and Henry Ford colleges before obtaining a Nursing License from the former Sinai Hospital of Detroit. John has been married to Krista for nearly 20 years and they share three grown children and a younger daughter who attends Jackson Catholic Middle School.

    John has had a commitment to the community for many years serving on a number of Boards and Commissions. John took the Citizen Planner course at Michigan State University Extension, and is a member of the Michigan Association of Planning. John currently is serving as the Chairman of the City of Jackson Planning Commission and was the past chairman of the County Airport Zoning and Zoning Board of Appeals. He also serves on the Region II Planning Commission, and is a member serving on the Jackson Downtown Development Authority.

    As a small business owner John knows the struggles that we face locally. In his companies he is responsible for human resources functions, payroll, staffing, and he has to stay up to date with the federal, state, and local regulations. John is a member of the National Association of Occupational Health Professionals, he is certified as a Human Resource Management Specialist, and has been a member of the Medical Group Management association for nearly 30 years.
