Visitors must have State Identification to visit. Minors must be over 48 inches tall.  Minors are only permitted to visit when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, unless the facility commander or designee authorize, in advance of the visit, the minor to be accompanied by some other adult.

Persons presenting themselves as the minor’s parent or legal guardian must provide legal documentation supporting the claim of custodial responsibility (i.e. birth certificate, adoption papers, documentation from the courts indicating custodial responsibility, etc.)  Once a visitor leaves the visit room their visit is over.  No more than three visitors per inmate at one time may visit an inmate.

Who Can Visit

All inmates may receive visitation privileges after incarceration of 7 days. The inmate is only allowed a maximum of 3 visitors per day. All visitors seeking to visit the same inmate should arrive together at the visitation area. Please be prepared to present a picture identification card to the Corrections Officer upon request. The inmate may change the visitation card once each month.

Entrance onto any Jackson County Office of the Sheriff property, implies consent to search. Visitors are reminded to keep a safe distance from the jail perimeter fence and to refrain from communications to inmates through the fence. All conversations are subject to audio recording and must be done over the jails phone/visitation system.

Length of Visit

To ensure that everyone receives a visit, it is necessary to limit visits to "approximately" 15 minutes. All persons wishing to visit a particular inmate are required to arrive and check in together.

For safety reasons, only children who are 48 inches or taller may visit an inmate. Smaller children and babies will not be admitted to the visit area. Parents are responsible for their children during visitation. Children under the age of seventeen are required to be accompanied by a parent no exceptions. No one under the age of 18 can visit without a parent. If you are under 18, and the visit is done during school hours, you may be reported as a truant.

Due to the limited size of the visitation area, only inmate visitors will be admitted to the visitation area. After visitation please leave the area. If at the Chanter Road facility, do not approach or yell through the perimeter fence or honk your horn at inmates in the yard as such actions are detrimental to the safety and security of the facility. Violators will not be allowed back onto jail property. If you need to have someone wait or you wish to visit other visitors, please use the Court House break area (downtown) or the waiting room of the Chanter Road facility. Please be considerate of the elderly and barrier free concerned visitors.
