2017 Falcon Report

2017 Falcon Report

Since 2010 peregrine falcons, Big Red and Chayton, have been nesting atop the Jackson County Tower Building in downtown Jackson, MI.

Since then, we have watched a live stream broadcast of their nesting.  Each year the new peregrine falcon chicks are banded by the DNR, and named by Citizen Patriot/M Live Readers.

During the 2017 Falcon broadcasting season Big Red laid five eggs.  The five eggs hatched, and were identified as three females, one male, and one could be either sex.  The chicks were named:

  • Mountie
  • Cooper
  • Dungy
  • Schlenker
  • Gramer
