About

56 modern campsites are available with water and electricity at this beautiful 26 acre park. At Swains Lake Campground, you’ll enjoy a campsite overlooking the lake which is shaded by sprawling trees – it’s like being in the middle of the forest, but with the amenities you desire. Explore the area by taking a hike on the nature trails, or go for a bike ride on the near-by Falling Waters Trail. Launch your boat directly from the park for a day on the water. Don’t forget your fishing gear because this lake is stocked with rainbow trout and is ideal for shore fishing. An 18-hole golf course is located across the street.

History

Frances Mille Dodes sold approximately 25 acres to Jackson County on December 21, 1926 for $5,000. Swains Lake became a county park on December 18, 1968 when the Jackson County Road Commission signed over the land to the County of Jackson. The lake is named after Isaac N Swain, whom owned property on the lake.
