Commissioner Corey Kennedy represents District 3 (PDF) which is located within the townships of Leoni and Summit.

Commissioner Corey W. Kennedy represents Jackson County’s District 3 located within precincts 1,2, and 3 of Leoni Township and precincts 7 and 8 of Summit Township. Commissioner Kennedy was formerly a Leoni Township Trustee where he won the November 2016 election before winning his first two-year term as Jackson County Commissioner District 3 in the November 2018 election.

 Corey has over 19 years of experience in management as a store director at Polly’s Country Markets and has managed five locations for the family owned supermarket chain. He is an active member of the Michigan Center Eagles Fraternal Order. Corey has also been active in coaching Jackson Recreation soccer, East Jackson Youth Football, East Jackson Middle School football, donating to East Jackson schools, and for the past 6 years has organized an annual grocery giveaway to help Jackson County residents in need.

Corey was born in Jackson and has spent most of his life here. A graduate of North Adams-Jerome High School, Commissioner Kennedy also attended Jackson Public Schools and Western Public Schools. After High School he attended Olivet College where he lettered in varsity football for two seasons before transferring to Western Michigan University and obtaining his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the university’s Haworth College of Business. He has two children, William and Tashannya. Tashannya is a graduate of East Jackson High School and William currently attends East Jackson Community Schools.

As a county commissioner who represents district 3, Corey’s core beliefs are in open and transparent government, fiscal responsibility, and keeping costs reasonable for all Jackson area residents and businesses. He is committed to serving all residents of Jackson County and making Jackson an ideal place for people to live and businesses to operate in.
